Executive Search is the most effective method of recruiting board directors and senior management, executives and non-executives.
Friisberg’s thorough and professional approach to Executive Search ensures that our clients appoint the most suitable candidates who not only possess relevant experience, but who also have personalities to support our clients’ corporate strategies, cultures and values.
Our Executive Searches are always carefully targeted and well researched in order to stimulate interest in our clients’ vacancies from top performers. Typically, such people are already well rewarded by good employers and therefore rarely looking for a new job, so they would be unlikely to respond to advertisements. All of our consultants are well versed in the multi-phased approach necessary to attract and secure high quality people for our clients.

Executive Selection is best where the vacancy could be filled by a candidate who could come from any number of career backgrounds.
Advertising a position may be required by the conventions or regulations in force for a country or an industry, for example appointments into roles with public sector or charitable organisations. It will cast the net widely and carefully-worded copy in judiciously selected media should prompt interest and applications from a large number of candidates across a variety of sources.
Friisberg’s consultants will advise and guide a client throughout the process of media selection and advertisement production and will manage every aspect of the entire campaign, including timely correspondence with all applicants. Oftentimes, advertisements will be in support of targeted Executive Search activity, but the discipline and rigour as exercised in a search process is always replicated during the interview and assessment phases of all selection assignments too.

The role of Non-Executive Directors in corporates and other private institutions and public bodies is fundamental to ensuring good governance, but recruiting NEDs is rarely straightforward.
In the UK over recent years the role of the NED has been defined, refined and clarified by the Greenbury, Higgs and other reports. The involvement of Executive Search firms in the identification and recruitment of NEDs has been increasingly and actively encouraged in such reports, to introduce objectivity and rigour into the appointment process. The Davies report set a target of 40% female boards, yet diversity in the boardroom has barely improved since. Executive Search is the ideal method by which fresh talent can be found and secured.
PGC has worked on numerous Non-Executive searches and our consultants can advise and support clients in appointing the Chair or NED their business needs.
Management Audits (or HR Due Diligence, as it is sometimes known) have become increasingly important...more »
Management Audits (or HR Due Diligence, as they are sometimes known) have become increasingly important to our corporate clients. These formal and fulsome reviews of leadership skills and management competence are regularly undertaken by Friisberg & Partners International consultants in every country in which we operate.
This invaluable service offers chief executives, owners (and potential buyers) powerful insights into and understanding of the true nature of an organisation’s management.
Our consultants review and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of directors, executives and key managers (as individuals and as teams) against the company strategy and business objectives. We can then make recommendations as to how to restructure the organisation and improve the performance of its key people.
Often, we are then retained to continue to work with our client to introduce the necessary improvements with Coaching & Mentoring, and to introduce any missing skill-sets with Executive Search.

Assessment provides invaluable information about an individual’s skills and abilities.
Predictions of the future success of an individual based on multiple sources of evidence gathered by Assessment against defined competencies have the highest statistical validity of any form of evaluation.
Whether used to inform recruitment, promotion or succession planning decisions, thorough Assessment is also of great symbolic value, as it confirms to the subject that the client wishes to afford them every opportunity to demonstrate their ability to succeed. Such levels of engagement ensure employees (both current and future) are more committed to their employer and to their own performance and professional development.

Interim Executives are flexible management resources, often with specialist expertise who are typically available at short notice.
Under certain circumstances the short-term engagement of an experienced Interim Executive to manage a specific project, programme, problem, new venture or change process is preferable to making a permanent appointment.
We maintain contact with many well qualified Interim Executives and Interim Managers and can introduce such people to our clients when situations arise that demand a rapid and positive intervention.

Cognitive ability tests can be extremely useful in predicting the performance of an individual in a role, which is invaluable in supporting recruitment and promotion decisions, assessments for development, management audits and succession planning.
Numerical and verbal reasoning are the most popular of this class of tests, but there are many others in addition which can help our clients evaluate their senior people. Logical and critical thinking can all be tested, as can abstract reasoning. Candidate test results are compared to statistically valid norm groups of relevant populations for an accurate and reliable measure of cognitive ability.
Many of the consultants of Friisberg & Partners International are licensed and registered to administer psychometric testing and can provide objective and robust evidence to clients of the abilities of individuals in, or shortlisted for, executive and senior management positions.
Insights in to the likely style, manner and approach an individual may take to their work can help inform decisions...more »
Insights in to the likely style, manner and approach an individual may take to their work can help inform decisions. Personality profiling can provide insights into motivations, preferences and temperament – all of which can form the basis for more incisive interview questions or the identification of personal development goals to be supported by coaching and mentoring.
Profiling every member of a board, or a senior management group, can reveal where team dynamics can be improved, or where relationships and responsibilities can be realigned to better effect.
There are no right and wrong answers to the questions in a personality profiling questionnaire – it is not a pass/fail test! Therefore gaining deeper insights into individuals in a recruitment process, or on a development programme, can be non-threatening – even enjoyable. Friisberg’s consultants always provide fulsome feedback to the profiled person, such that all involved gain from the experience.

Friisberg & Partners International can help clients understand and address the additional issues and needs specific to a Board of Directors.
There are ongoing discussions at a European Union level as well as within individual countries about Corporate Governance and Board Development. Several European countries are considering whether to legislate on Corporate Governance and Board Composition. Good Corporate Governance has been identified, especially in the financial sector, as a method to prevent future financial crises. Well-governed companies have more credibility, better access to financing and enhanced shareholder value.
The purpose of Friisberg’s Board Services is to advise and assist our clients on Corporate Governance and Board Development issues, such as board evaluation, board composition and board member searches, organisational risk assessment and board member performance management.
